What isolation and grief have in common

We are in bizarre times. Thank you to first responders, front line workers, and everyone who is putting themselves at risk for others.  I never knew how weird it was to wear a mask. No one can see my smile. And it’s claustrophobic.

The similarities between grieving and living with Covid isolation become more apparent every day.   “Life is just heavy and sad right now.” “I miss the hugs of my loved one.” “It’s so surreal.” “I don’t know what the future holds.” “I’m tired of feeling this way.”

Remember that everyone experiences loss and grief in different ways, so try to be compassionate and gracious. Some have lost more than others.

Remember too that every loss in life may bring up the ones from the past.  You may not have recently lost a loved one but there may be some similar feelings that you are struggling with. Let’s connect the dots and call what’s happening in this pandemic grief

Several of my former clients alerted me to a particularly relevant article that resonated with them.

That Discomfort You’re Feeling Is Grief
